I've been living in Dubai for over twelve years now. I built a career I'm proud of, found my community, and eventually met the love of my life. Everything was falling into place.

Then I found out I was pregnant with my first child.

I thought I had it all figured out. I'd find a great nanny, balance work and motherhood, and life would continue smoothly. How hard could it be?

Very hard, as it turned out.

I spent weeks scrolling through online platforms. Every promising profile I found was either outdated or the caregiver had already been hired weeks ago. I tried agencies too. They charged a fortune and gave me maybe three options to choose from. Three. For one of the most important decisions of my life.

In the end, I had to call my mom in Lebanon and ask her to fly over. She stayed with us for months, helping me through those early days. I was grateful, but I kept thinking: there has to be a better way.

A couple of years later, my husband's job took us to Riyadh. I was pregnant again, and this time I started my search early. Surely Saudi Arabia would have better options?

It was worse. Far worse. Fewer platforms, fewer verified profiles, the same frustrating cycle, and even higher agency fees with even fewer choices.

That's when something clicked. If the platform I needed didn't exist, I would build it myself.

During our two years in Saudi Arabia, my husband and I created Rufy. We focused on what actually matters: real profiles of real caregivers who are actually available. No ghost listings. No outdated information. No premium pricing with limited options.

The response from Saudi families, both local and expat, was beyond anything we expected. Parents reached out to tell us they finally found someone they trusted. That they felt heard. That the process actually worked.

This year, we moved back to the UAE, and I knew I had to bring Rufy with me. The same frustrations I faced years ago still exist here. And now I can finally do something about it.
